The rum is produced entirely on Mauritian soil, from cane grown on the estate through to distillation and bottling under the Saint Aubin 1819 label, using pure sugar cane juice rather than molasses. Groupe Saint Aubin said the award reflected the work carried out by its teams at every stage of production, from the plantation to the distillery.
The company thanked its staff, along with customers and partners, for their continued support.
The medal adds to a growing list of international accolades for Mauritian rum in recent years, as producers on the island increasingly back single estate methods and pure cane juice production to set their spirits apart on the world stage.
