Maharaj's path to the top job at Mystik has been built from within. She joined the property through its food and beverage division, where she played a central role in shaping the guest experience and the house culture. In October 2025, as Newmark restructured its Mauritian operations under a cluster model overseeing both Mystik and La Maison d'Été in Poste Lafayette jointly, she was promoted to Cluster Food & Beverage Manager, taking charge of the dining experience across both properties. Her appointment to the top job at Mystik marks the next step in that homegrown trajectory. Newmark says the appointment reflects both her commitment to the brand and her deep familiarity with the hotel, its teams and its guests.
A beachfront boutique lifestyle property
Brought into the Newmark portfolio in 2022, the Mystik Lifestyle Boutique Hotel is a 35-room property set directly on the beach at Mont Choisy, in the island's north. The hotel features a four-sided infinity pool, an all-day beachfront restaurant — the #36 Beach Resto Bar, with 70 covers — and a treetop Sky Bar that has become a sought-after spot for visitors and locals alike. The 18-hole Mont Choisy Le Golf course is minutes away, while Grand Baie, with its shops and nightlife, lies five kilometres distant.
In Mauritius, Newmark runs two deliberately contrasting properties: the vibrant, lifestyle-driven Mystik, and the more intimate La Maison d'Été in Poste Lafayette, rooted in the authenticity of its fishing village setting.
